OVERVIEW OF WHEN TO RE-TEST FOR TABE
( INCLUDING GUIDELINE TABLES & SAMPLE SCENARIOS)

Use the charts below to determine whether a student's score is a reasonable reflection of his or her ability. First, fine the chart for the Form (7 or 8) and Test Subject you administered to the student. Next, find the student's number-correct score for the Level (E, M, D, or A) you admininstered to the student. Finally, follow the options given at that Level for that number correct score.

Directly following are two Examples to illustrate how the charts should be used.

Example 1: No re-test needed.

A student takes the Form 8 Level M Reading Test and gets 34 correct answers. Look at the chart for Form 8 Complete Battery Level M Reading Test below. Because the number-correct score is between 16 and 45, DO NOT RETEST.

Example 2: Re-test soon!

A student takes the Form 8 Level M Reading Test and gets a score of 47 correct answers. Because that score exceeds a score of 44, RETEST with LEVEL D.
