and continuing assessment of English language literacy skills of American
adults that seeks to describe the status of adult literacy in the U.S.;

and selected characteristics of adults. NAAL previously conducted a
National Adult Literacy Survey (NALS) in 1992.

The National Reporting System for Adult Education (NRS) is an outcome-based
reporting system for the state-administered, Federally funded adult
education program. Developed with the support of the U.S. Department
of Education's Division of Adult Education and Literacy (DAEL), the
