Central MA SABES is a program of Quinsigamond Community College and one of 5 regional professional development centers across the state funded by the MA Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. SABES promotes high quality adult basic education services through training, support and resources that improve the skills and knowledge of practitioners and strengthen programs. We develop the field’s capacity to equip learners to succeed in the economy, contribute more fully to their families and communities, develop leadership skills, and reach personal learning goals.
SABES provides staff development that stresses participation, reflection, innovation and the sharing of relevant research and effective practices. These offerings are held throughout the year on a number of topics which promote the MA Indicators of ABE Program Quality and the MA ABE Professional Standards. Areas include:
- Curriculum Development, Implementation and Instructional Methods
- Student Educational Progress (including goals, technology and Next Steps)
- Instructional Support Services (including counseling and ADA)
- Program Management, Leadership and Accountability
Various professional development opportunities (formalized region-wide, program-embedded or individual consultation) are available through the Central MA SABES office. Please check the SABES calendar to view and register for our current professional development listings. We welcome and encourage your being in touch with Central MA SABES staff members about any specific professional development needs you may have, and we look forward to working together with you to meet them and to help your students achieve their goals.
