Overview

This workshop follows directly from Workshop 2:  Learning Targets for ABE Students and builds on the importance of working with clear learning targets.  Participants will learn which assessment methods are and are not appropriate for each of the five types of learning targets.  They will also analyze assessments to determine if their learning targets match the assessment method(s) used.  Further, participants will practice developing assessment plans, or blueprints, by defining the importance, depth, and breadth of the learning targets being assessed, as well as plan for involving adult learners in assessment planning and development.

Formative Assessment Training #4 - Using Extended Written Response with ABE students is available to practitioners who attend Formative Assessment Trainings #1, #2, and #3.  See details on February 29. 

    Learning Objectives

    Upon completion of this professional development activity/course, you will be able to:

  • Select the appropriate method(s) to assess specific learning targets.
    Create an assessment blueprint.
    Use an assessment blueprint with adult learners as assessment for learning.
    Critique existing classroom assessments to determine and improve target-method match.

Prerequisites

Participants are expected to have attended Formative Assessment Training sessions #1 & #2.
