- The Technology Support Northeast SABES provides is varied. We offer phone, DL, email technical assistance, workshops, on-site visits, trainings, videos and open labs.
- We provide training and support for SMARTT (System for Managing Accountability and Results Through Technology), which is the State’s online system for all DOE funded ABE programs in the state. http://www.doe.mass.edu/acls/smartt/default.html
- Cognos is the reporting component for SMARTT. This 3rd party product allows programs to draw information from the data they have been collecting for SMARTT over the past five years.
- SMARTT/Cognos Help: * There is a new procedure for requesting help for SMARTT and Cognos. All requests for assistance should now be emailed to smartthelp@gmail.com Please do not email or call your regional tech directly. We have established a helpdesk system which is being managed on a rotating basis by three different techs. We will no longer be able to reply to individual calls and you will be directed to submit your request to the above link. You do not need to put detailed information in the initial email. When you submit your request, an autoreply will be sent back to you which will contain a link to a form. It is important that you fill out the short form as completely as possible and then click on Submit. You will then be contacted either by phone or email by the tech on duty if they need further information. Please realize that there may be some initial glitches in the system as we put it into place and we appreciated your anticipated patience.
- SMARTT/Cognos Updates: SMARTT and Cognos trainings will be revised to be more responsive to the needs of the field. Trainings will now be delivered primarily through web conferencing tools instead of face to face. Supplementary online how-to videos will be developed and referred to augment various topics. There is an online SMARTT Manual and a Cognos manual that should be used as a first source of reference.
SMARTT NEW USER Trainings: are now three hours long, but may be taken in segments and may be delivered face to face or online as needed. Please check the SABES calendar for listings.
- All trainings require pre-registration and tend to fill quickly. Please call to reserve a seat. If you are registered and cannot attend, please call to cancel so that others may be able to participate. PLEASE NOTE: Even if a training is delivered online, there may be a limit.
- Before you call for tech support regarding SMARTT, you may want to check out the online support manual located at: https://smartt.doemass.org/smartt/help
- General Technology Trainings – These trainings are offered throughout the year. Trainings may be provided on Software applications, Hardware issues, Troubleshooting, Internet Searching, Integrating Technology into the Classroom and other subjects based on a needs analysis and requests.
- Northeast SABES maintains several listservs:
A listserv is a means by which the members of the list can post comments, announcements and questions to all the people on the list. In this way, a community of people with similar interests and concerns can exchange ideas and discuss questions about a specific topic. The submitted questions and comments are e-mailed to all of the people who have subscribed to that particular listserv. The list moderator reserves the right to approve all submitted postings and subscription requests.
- The Northeast SMARTT listserv is intended to notify those working with either SMARTT data entry or looking at SMARTT and COGNOS data of any new changes or developments within the SMARTT/COGNOS systems. *If you are having a problem with SMARTT or COGNOS, first contact your regional technology coordinator, especially if it is an issue specifically about your program. General issues can be posted to this list. All of the regional SABES techs are on each other’s lists, as is Donna Cornellier. In case your regional tech is out of the office, there is always someone else monitoring the list and you will generally receive the fastest reply to your questions by sending them here. Posts to this list should be related to SMARTT and/or COGNOS issues only.
- TheNortheast Practitioner listserv is intended to serve as a vehicle through which ABE practitioners in the greater Northeast region can communicate with and send announcements to one another about happenings and news relevant to the field, and to seek support or information. Any member can post a message to the listserv, as long as it is related to adult basic education. For example, it can be used to post job announcements or to share resources with other list members.
