Welcome to this site that was developed as a “companion” to the workshop Using the Professional Standards to Improve the Quality of Your Teaching. Whether you have attended this session or not, as an ABE practitioner you will find this page useful in developing and implementing a professional development plan that is in line with your program's goals. This plan will ultimately help you improve the quality of your teaching. *As an added benefit, this site can be used to support the Program and Staff Development (P/SD) function at your program.
Here are some assignments to take you a step further with your Professional Development Plan and/or the P/SD function at your program:
Next Steps Assignment 1:
Fax or email us a copy of your 3-year professional development plan for sharing with others. Your plan can be handwritten, or typed...just so it is legible for others. We will import or scan the plans we receive into a single PDF document, which we will then send back to everyone as an email attachment. Seeing other people's plans will give you ideas for perhaps refining your own plan. Watch for our email reminder to complete at least a draft plan for sharing.
Next Steps Assignment 2:
Develop the PSD/F function at your program utilizing material from the Network workshop or this website and report back to us on what it looks like at your program. Include challenges and any specific PD modalities that work for your staff.
