How a Teacher Can Use This Web Site

The goal of this Web site is to present in plain English information that will be helpful for Adult Basic Education and ESOL students who are curious about buying a computer. We try to explain some of the jargon and show in a basic way how computers work and how others use them. Also, see below for some lesson plan ideas.

If you have suggestions or comments, please contact the Web Chef at akiraboy2000 @ yahoo.com.

All comments are welcome.

The Web site has five main parts:

1. Why Buy a Computer – Here are some examples to help students who aren't aware of practical computer applications for people just like them.

2. What Computer to Buy – This may be where students expect to start. And some, who are advanced, can start here. But the Why Buy a Computer and How they work sections will help most students get an introduction from which to understand the terms, and why some computers are a better value than others.

3. Where to Buy a Computer– places with good value (cheap prices)

4. How a Computer Works

5. Other Resouces – links to other Web sites where students can learn more

Please refer students who have trouble with a particular term to our glossary page.

Navigation Explained

home / front / e-square navigation

HOME goes back to one of the 5 main pages listed on the left.

FRONT goes to very first page of this site

E-Square goes to a big web site for Adult Learners and Teachers that has much more than Computer information

It's best if you start first with:

1) Why Buy a Computer

2) What Computer to Buy

3) Where To Buy a Computer

#1 starts with the basics and builds to more advanced information.
