All your files and programs are stored here....things like your Operating System,  word processing application, all your data, and text (writing), pictures, and music files.

A hard drive can both read and write information. A hard drive is not as fast as RAM. But a hard drive sabes or stores information, so when you turn off your computer (stop the electricity going to it) your information is not lost.
