Adult learning programs and other organizations that provide direct services to adults with limited literacy are increasingly looking to mobile learning to extend learning opportunities. Join ACLS, SABES, and other adult education colleagues to learn how you can increase access to free mobile learning apps for adults in your program and in your community by registering here for a webinar on Thursday, February 7, 2019 from 2:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. ET, presented by Team WorldEd for the XPRIZE Communities Competition.
How can the Adult Literacy XPRIZE Communities Competition Help?
The national Adult Literacy XPRIZE Communities Competition aims to “tackle the problem of adult low-literacy by putting free learning tools in the hands of those who need them the most, so learning can happen anytime, anywhere.”
Funded by the Barbara Bush Literacy Foundation and Dollar General Literacy Foundation, XPRIZE will select four apps from the Adult Literacy XPRIZE design competition. These apps are designed for native English speaking and English language learners and are geared towards younger and older adults at beginning through intermediate levels. By joining Team WorldEd, your learners, their friends and families, as well as other members of your community will have free access to the four final apps for one year. These apps can help extend the learning for adults already in your program plus help extend your reach throughout your community for learners on wait lists and others who are not able to attend formal classes.
What is Team WorldEd?
Team WorldEd is a growing virtual community of adult literacy providers and their community partners, state funders of adult education, and professional development staff in six states: CT, MA, NH, RI, TX, and VA.
In Massachusetts, ACLS, SABES, and World Education are collaborating to make this opportunity available to all adult education programs and other interested community organizations.
