Do you teach or tutor reading at the 0–3.9 GLE range? Do you feel comfortable teaching phonemic awareness, phonological awareness, and phonics, with activities that correspond to your learners’ decoding levels? Alphabetics is one of the “essential components” of evidence-based reading instruction required by WIOA.

If you have already completed the SABES courses Overview of EBRI and Diagnostic Assessments of Reading, or have previously completed or are currently enrolled in STAR training, then enroll in our professional development course EBRI: Alphabetics, which begins on 12/03/2018. Register now from the course page!

In this six-hour online course plus a practicum, learn about effective, appropriate instructional strategies and activities and create a short alphabetics lesson that corresponds to your learners’ decoding levels. You will receive feedback on your lesson by the course facilitators. The online modules contain videos, embedded readings, and quick skill checks of the content and learning objectives, and may be accessed at any time once the course opens.

If you work with teachers and tutors for the GLE 0-3.9 range who satisfy the prerequisites, please encourage them to register for this PD opportunity.
