On behalf of the SABES PD Coordination Center, our heartfelt thanks to the many people who supported this year’s ACLS and SABES Conference on Implementing the CCR Standards in the ABE and ESOL Classroom. The collaboration between SABES and ACLS was essential to ensuring that the conference was high quality and truly supported practitioners in making the challenging but vital changes to practice that our students deserve.
Thanks also to the more than 400 practitioners from over 90 adult education programs who made the time to attend the conference. We respect the dedication and professionalism it takes to devote an entire day to improving practice.
All of the SABES PD Centers contributed to the conference. We especially want to recognize the SABES PD Centers for English Language Arts, Mathematics and Adult Numeracy, and English for Speakers of Other Languages for their work with presenters, which ensured that the sessions met the conference goals to focus on instruction, integrate technology and formative assessment, and provide practitioners with instructional tools. Please be sure to review the SABES newsletter for upcoming PD opportunities that will build on the conference and continue to support efforts to align programs and teaching with the CCR Standards.
We are in the process of compiling evaluations and will be sending a follow-up survey soon. In the meantime, if you attended the conference and have any questions or comments, please touch base with the PD Centers or contact Luanne Teller at Luanne_Teller@worlded.org.
Last, but certainly not least, we extend a special thanks to the ACLS team for helping to craft the vision for this work. The conference was made possible through their leadership and funding, which they provide to support our collective efforts to improve opportunities for every adult learner in our classrooms.
