Overview

In this hands-on training, participants will draft a full unit aligned with the College and Career Readiness Standards (CCRS) for English Language Arts (ELA).  The unit will be contextualized within meaningful topics identified by the program's Scope & Sequence and will integrate reading, writing, speaking, and listening standards.  Participation will be enhanced by attending in program teams.

Description

In this multi-part training, participants will expand unit outlines from their ELA Scope & Sequence to develop more fleshed-out unit plans as part of their overall program curriculum.  The unit-planning process will include identifying relevant vocabulary; incorporating sequenced, scaffolded, and standards-based skill instruction; and incorporating meaningful formative and summative assessments.

This training will be delivered on two dates, with homework in between:

Part 1: Face-to-Face:
Friday, March 18, 2016, 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Part 2: Homework:
Participate in online discussion threads

Part 3: Webinar:
Thursday, May 5, 2016, either from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon, or from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. (choose one option)

Full participation in and completion of all three components is required.
