This brief Rapid ReEmployment for a Just and Equitable Recovery in Massachusetts is authored by Workforce Solutions Group, Massachusetts Workforce Association, and Boston Indicators.

The authors address gaps in the existing workforce system, and how our COVID19 current crisis impacts the workforce landscape and workers. They then outline five policy recommendations for a rapid reemployment strategy. These recommendations are a call to action to ensure an equitable recovery and sustainable economic future for Massachusetts. As the authors show, as we begin to use stimulus funds and design programs and initiative, it is imperative that efforts target and include those who have been most negatively impacted by the pandemic.

Recommendations include:

  • Expanding Skills Training and Career Technical Institutes
  • Expanding ESOL for Work
  • Closing the Digital Divide
  • Fully Funding Workforce Development System/Workforce Implications of National Infrastructure Bill
  • Funding Work Supports like Child Care
