This day-long workshop combines practical tools and strategies with foundational ideas in disability studies to support more disability-inclusive programming. We will begin with an overview of the new and improved Basic Disability Screenings Tool, which provides practical guidance to help you and students determine if there is a need for professional assessments. Next, we will discuss referral processes and funding sources for additional assessments. Then we will learn about the Common Accommodations for Learning tool, and will practice using a preferred accommodations plan. All tools referenced are collected in the Basic Disability Screenings for Adult Education Program Use (BDSAE).
After the lunch break, we will discuss how adult education programs can benefit from the important work being done in disability studies, disability activism, and disability inclusion in workforce development contexts. We will also review the basic tenets of Universal Design for Learning. You will be supported in developing disability-conscious activities and products for use in program orientations, classrooms and program administration. Activities and products in your plan will be developed to:

- Provide access to accommodations for all learners.
