This four-hour workshop focuses on designing instructional units for effective teaching and learning. The Backward Design approach, developed in the 1990s by Grant Wiggins and Jay McTeague, helps you connect the purpose and desired results of your teaching with how your learners will demonstrate their learning. During the workshop, you will analyze a sample ESOL unit to uncover the essential elements of this approach and then design a unit of your own. We ask that you bring sample units from your program’s ESOL Scope and Sequence to work on and refine during this workshop.
