Explore and discuss remote instructional strategies for Alphabetics in this 90-minute Zoom session for GLE 0-3.9 teachers and tutors who have already completed the Alphabetics or STAR trainings, or who are certified in a Structured Language Approach (ex. Wilson).

    Audience

    This professional development activity/course is designed for:

  • Teachers and tutors of adult learners with GLE 0–3.9
  • ELA teachers and tutors who have completed the SABES Alphabetics online course OR STAR training, or who are certified in a Structured Language Approach (ex. Wilson)
Description

The overall goal of this virtual session is to support your remote instruction and connect you with colleagues who work with adult learners at GLE 0-3.9.

Together, we will watch five short videos created by Sylvia Greene for the newest iteration of the online Alphabetics course, discuss the remote strategies presented therein, and share any adaptations participants have made to these strategies.  

Please note: This online course cannot be accessed from the SABES website. You will receive a separate email from Joanne Harrington at Quinsigamond Community College with instructions on how to access the course.

    Upon completion of this professional development activity/course, you will be able to:

  • Identify effective, appropriate remote instructional strategies and activities for teaching phonemic awareness, phonological awareness, and phonics.
