Description

The landscape of Adult ESL has changed dramatically over the past several years, especially since the advent of the rigorous CCR Standards and WIOA’s focus on preparing adults for employment. These shifts demand more rigorous instruction at all levels in ESOL classrooms. This webinar series provides a real-time opportunity to learn about and reflect on integrating content-rich, rigorous instruction at all levels in ESOL classrooms, thereby maximizing learners’ use of language and critical-thinking skills.

With guidance and support from Betsy Parrish, you will work through two units of the LINCS ESL Pro Meeting the Language Needs of Today’s English Learner online professional development module, chosen based on your personal needs. These dynamic professional development materials will allow you to read, watch videos, discuss, question, and apply strategies for more rigorous instruction in your particular contexts. During the webinars, you will see demonstrations, share your successes, pose questions, and reflect with Betsy and the other participants. You can expect to devote 2–3 hours of individual work time between the webinars. The total number of professional development hours for this offering is 10.
