Jessica Filion is the Adult Basic Education Coordinator for Opportunity Academy in Holyoke, MA. She has several years of experience working with adult learners in a variety of contexts from teaching ESOL to the parents of her middle school students, to supporting a cohort of learners studying to become paraprofessionals, and now coordinating an entire program.
Jessica has been an educator for over 17 years and has built learning communities in large urban areas in Los Angeles and New York, as well as smaller gateway cities in the Commonwealth like Lawrence and Holyoke.
She holds a Master of Arts in English from Middlebury Bread Loaf School of English, a Master of Science in Urban Education from Mercy College, and a Bachelor of Arts from Trinity College, Hartford CT.
Professional Development Specialist Eliana Stanislawski makes sure that programs and practitioners have the training and assistance they need to achieve their digital literacy goals.
Eliana brings over 10 years of experience in adult education and deep expertise in virtual learning, literacy, and refugee support. As the former Adult Education Curriculum and Instruction Coordinator at HIAS Pennsylvania, they developed targeted English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) programs for newcomer refugees, led new approaches to virtual instruction for English language learners without literacy in their first language, trained social services staff, and achieved measurable skill gains with 75% of their students. Eliana has also taught at institutions like the Free Library of Philadelphia, Worcester Adult Learning Center, and Worcester State University. Eliana has taught virtually since 2020 and has led the transition from in-person to online instruction for multiple ESOL and Family Literacy programs.
Eliana leads coaching and professional development on a wide range of topics, including digital skills instruction and values-based instruction. She is also a member of the Educational Linguistics Faculty at the University of Pennsylvania’s Graduate School of Education, where she serves as a mentor for TESOL graduate student-teachers.
Eliana holds an MSEd in TESOL from Temple University and a BA in International Development and Social Change from Clark University.
