Overview

This annual DL Summit provides programs currently offering distance learning (DL) services with the opportunity to learn how other DL programs have increased student engagement and retention by implementing specific practices related to recruitment, screening, orientation, instruction, and support. We will also share independent study resources that students like using and review data entry procedures for DL hours.

* NOTE: This summit will be delivered by webinar. If for any reason you are unable to attend in this format, please email dianarsatin@gmail.com for information on the possibility of attending in person at World Education in Boston.

Registration deadline: May 31

Please note: All programs that currently offer DL classes, both independently at the program and through the DL Hub, are welcome to participate in the DL Summit. If you are not yet offering DL classes but are in the process of considering DL for your program and would like to learn more, we encourage you to register for the series specifically designed to support programs in the planning phase. Description

As a Massachusetts adult educator, you benefit from our state’s membership in the IDEAL Consortium, a nationally respected organization that helps member states establish quality, innovative distance and blended learning programs. We are excited to welcome national distance and blended learning expert and IDEAL Director Jen Vanek, who will facilitate a portion of this DL Summit. Dr. Vanek brings knowledge of successful practices through her own extensive research and by sharing best practices gleaned from other IDEAL partner states.

We are also pleased that SABES Distance Learning Coordinator Diana Satin will be joining us. Diana has extensive experience as a course facilitator for students and for educators in online, face-to-face, and blended learning formats.

With support from Jen and Diana, we will discuss how implementing best practices related to recruitment, screening, orientation, and instruction coalesce to form a system that effectively supports student engagement, persistence, and retention. This interactive DL Summit will offer you opportunities to share your successes and to network with colleagues to uncover strategies for addressing areas where you seek to strengthen your DL services.

Registration deadline is May 31. Upon registration, you will receive instructions for how to join the webinar.
