Susan Klaw is the principle developer of English for New Bostonian's ESOL for Parents and Caregivers Curriculum, as well as the founder and director of the Family School at the Otis, an Even Start funded family literacy collaboration between a Boston public elementary school and a local YMCA, now in its ninth year. In the Family School, Ms. Klaw has taught adult ESOL, developed curriculum, planned weekly parent/child activities and facilitated parenting education groups. She has presented at numerous statewide and national conferences, particularly on using the content of schooling to teach ESOL. She is a long-term member of the Massachusetts Family Literacy Consortium and the East Boston Adult Education Coalition. In 2003, she was named one of ten "Literacy Champions" statewide by the new Massachusetts Literacy Foundation. She has a BA from Harvard, an EdM in curriculum from UMass Amherst, and a CAGS in educational planning and administration from Bostn University.
