Support your students in becoming more confident and accomplished writers by focusing on strategies to help them master the skill of summarizing.
Evidence-Based Writing Strategies: Summarizing is one part of a four-part series on evidence-based writing strategies, many of which can be easily adapted for online and remote learning.

This professional development activity/course is designed for:
In Summarizing Strategies, learn several techniques to help students master the challenging skill of writing a summary, including 3-2-1 Summary, $2 Summary, Newspaper Headlines, and Six-word Memoirs.
There are three components:
- A live session that includes an exploration of the strategies, a brief discussion of the relevant research, and its implications for teaching (2 PD hours)
- Applied practice
- After two weeks, a follow-up live session to debrief and reflect on the strategies tried in those two weeks (1 PD hour)
Complete all three components to receive PD hours.
Introductory session: Wed. Jan. 13, 1-3 pm
Reflection session: Wed. Jan. 27, 1-2 pm
